Hello, I'm Camille
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Paris, France.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to France wasn't in the plans for the long haul. Like many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, raised expectations. Daily chores seemed more complex than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, unpredictability, and a lot of hands-on learning. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began to build something that felt secure.
Why I Built Birch Vernal Tundra
Most online information fell into corporate relocation guidance or superficial travel content. What was missing was sincere, everyday family insight.
This site aims to bridge that gap—practical advice grounded in real life in France.
What This Site Does (And Doesn't)
This site is:
- Practical insights from living in France
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism board resource
- A paid-review platform
- A generic travel blog
Moving Forward
Our time in France continues, along with the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep recording what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Paris or anywhere in France, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Camille
